Moodle Showcase Events
Contributed by David Diedriech, Technical Training Coordinator
and Michael Gough, Instructional Technologist and Coordinator of START
On Wednesday, October 3rd, FITS held its first Moodle Showcase in the Julian auditorium. Three instructors – Matthew Balensuela, Jeff Hansen and Dave Guinee – presented examples of how they were using Moodle resources that were comparable to features in Blackboard. One of the many highlights included Dave showing the Moodle site that he uses as part of a collaborative class through NITLE. Several of those present offered suggestions and observations from their own courses. It was a great discussion!
On Wednesday, October 24, the “Doing ‘New’ with Moodle” showcase, also held in Julian, featured Mandy Henk, Librarian, Professor Rebecca Schindler, and Veronica Pejril, Coordinator of MITC. Mandy demonstrated how you can use Moodle's discussion boards and embedded YouTube videos in Moodle to communicate with a team of staff members. Rebecca showed how subscribing to RSS feeds in Moodle adds an up-to-date resource for students, while Roni demonstrated how Moodle handles sound files for her students' music technology projects.
