The Printer/Copier rollout project is, um, rolling along. We appreciate everyone's patience with the process and offer some additional information about some of the questions we have received in the following.
Included in this posting include:
- What general ledger (G/L) account will be used when I print/copy?
- What is the charge for color vs. black & white?
- How do I request a special print/copy card?
- When should I visit the HelpDesk to get my new ID card?
- Print driver info for early adopters whose new Canon printer/copier was delivered during October
1. What general ledger (G/L) account will be used when I print/copy?
As a preliminary pass, we have assigned everyone’s primary copy/print G/L account based on the department to which they are assigned in the Human Resources (HR) database. We plan to adjust these as needed per each department’s preference. If you would like to go ahead and send the account assignments for your folks to Nikki Brueggeman (x4580), she can make sure the assignments are correct in the system right away.
2. What is the charge for color vs. black & white?
During the next few weeks while everyone is getting familiar with the new print/copy process, we are charging the same for color and black & white:
- Single-sided: 5 cents per page
- Double-sided (duplex): 4 cents per page
Sometime in December or the start of January, the color prices will be raised. We’re still working through the final color cost, but it will be somewhere between 20-30 cents per page single-sided, with a discount for duplex print/copies.
3. How do I request a special print/copy card?
To request a special print/copy card for departmental use (e.g. student workers), please complete the Request for special print/copy card form. This form is also available on DePauw’s Printer/Copiers help site. You will need to designate a faculty or staff member who will be responsible for the card as well as the G/L account to be charged. Requests will be processed in the order received as quickly as possible.
4. When should I visit the HelpDesk to get my new ID card?
We suggest you visit the HelpDesk between 8:30 and 11 a.m. or between 1 and 4 p.m. if possible. Around lunchtime and toward the end of the day, the HelpDesk is very busy so you will most likely have to wait in line to get your new ID card if you choose to come then.
5. Print driver info for early adopters whose new Canon printer/copier was delivered during October
The print drivers you originally installed as an early adopter have been updated. If you notice issues, such as print jobs not printing to duplex by default or not being able to print black & white on color printers, please reinstall the print drivers on your computer. Step-by-step instructions on how to do this are available on DePauw’s Printer/Copiers help site.
