The ID Card office is issuing new proximity-style ID cards to replace the old ID-One Cards this semester.
Mentioned in a recent article in DePauw's student newspaper, The DePauw:
...a number of buildings on campus that had swipe entry systems were outdated and needed replacement. The coordinators at the ID/One Card Office investigated new technology and found that the proximity style ID cards suit a more modern college campus. It will also give students and faculty quicker access into buildings when the proximity readers are installed.
[The new cards] have better security and are more convenient for people because you don't have to swipe it; you just place it against the reader." Read more . . .
Initially, the new cards are being issued to students living in those residence units where swipe entry systems are being updated. Later in the the semester, all faculty, staff and remaining students will be able to get their new cards, too. Watch for coming postings for more details.
