Work continues on the transition to our new phone system and following is a quick update about what is underway.
Currently, Nikki Brueggeman is scheduling brief consultation meetings with department liaisons to confirm the basic configurations of phones in each area. As you can imagine, it is important that these initial consultations are completed by the end of the semester before folks head out for summer, so we really appreciate your help in getting these meetings arranged.
In the meantime, if you have not already done so, please be sure to complete the Employee Telephone Information Verification form. This just takes 5 minutes and gathers information about your phone number and office location ahead of time that will make the consultation conversation most efficient.
Once your liaison has met with the team, you can anticipate that your department’s new phones will be installed about 2 weeks later. We will let you know in advance when your specific installation has been scheduled so you can be prepared.
Finally, periodic updates about the project are available on the Information Services Blog and on Twitter @DePauwIT, and the team is offering orientation sessions that are noted on the Workshop and Event Calendar. As always, if you have specific questions, feel free to contact Nikki (nikkibrueggeman@depauw.edu, 4580) Carol Smith (clsmith@depauw.edu).
About the new telephones system installation:
The Metronet system will provide standard telephone services such as local and long distance calling, voicemail, call forwarding, etc., as well as several new features like voicemail to email, an online portal for managing your phone settings and voicemail, and integration with your DePauw Google account. When your number is switched to the new service, you will also receive a new phone handset for your desk, but your phone number will not change.
